Tea Profile
Tie Luo Han (Iron Arhat) is a semi-fermented oolong tea grown amongst the crevasses and peaks of Wuyi Mountain in the northern region of Fujian province, China. Legend tells that a warrior iron monk with tanned-golden skin discovered this tea bush. It is smooth and strong with a floral aroma.
Origin
Tie Luo Han is one of the Four Great Oolongs in China. In 1886, Guo Bo Cang writes that Tie Luo Han bushes became popular during the Song Dynasty. It comes from tea plants that grow amid rocks and cliffs in the Wuyi mountains of Fujian province, China. The rich minerals and terroir of the remote, rocky and sandy soil of the Wu Yi Mountains provides an exquisite depth of flavor. The amount of tea is very limited – it is picked and processed entirely by hand, and the leaves are tightly twisted into tight strips.
