Tea Profile
Keemun is a famous Chinese black tea that is considered to hold the most intense fragrance of all black teas in the world. Enjoyed by the Queen of England and its royal family, Keemun is gentle and malty with a slightly smoky note in its aroma.
Origin
Keemun, one of China’s Ten Most Famous Teas is produced exclusively in the Qimen County in the south of Anhui province. The tea-growing region lies between the Yellow Mountains and the Yangtze River in a mountainous area of dense forests characterized by low temperatures, high humidity and frequent fog. The lack of sunlight increases the chlorophyll content in the leaves, leading to sweet, fruity and soft taste and a intense floral fragrance. Keemun tea was first produced in the year 1875 when the Anhui Province had only produced green teas. Due to its exquisite character, it gained popularity very quickly, first in China, then in England, where it has since become one of the teas included in English Breakfast tea blends.
